Annual Neighborhood Events
Grand Dell has several annual events to encourage our neighbors to take time from their busy schedules to get to know one another. Below is a list of events that occur every year. From time to time we have had other events. Your ideas, and volunteers, are always encouraged!
Neighborhood Yard Sale
Grand Dell holds its yearly yard sale every September on the first Saturday after Labor Day. The event begins at 8 AM and continues until business dissipates, about 2 PM or earlier. So clean out your closets, garages, and join the yard sale to find a new home for items you don't need or want anymore. And for those not selling, go visit your neighbors and enjoy the thrill of the search!
Pot Luck Block Party
The annual pot luck block party is held in Autumn. Residents enjoy good food and great conversations, while the kids are busy playing games, enjoying toys or nibbling on cookies. This is a terrific opportunity to come meet your neighbors.
Annual HOA Meeting
The Annual Board Meeting is held in the Fall, typically in October. Unless notified otherwise, the meeting is held at the Ballardsville Fire Station 1 in Ballardsville. At the meeting, we hold elections for representatives to serve on the Board. The Grand Dell Homeowner's Association has a board of 9 members, each serving a 3-year term. There are advantages to having residents of the neighborhood association serve on the board rather than hiring a management company. With local management, dues can be held to a very reasonable level, issues that arise with neighbors can be addressed personally without resorting to hardline tactics, and each resident is important - not just a lot number in a management company's listing. But we need you to help keep management local by serving on the Board. The time commitment to serve is nominal - about 12 hours per year.
Not quite ready to be a Board Member? We are always looking for residents who want to serve on a committee or chair a new community activity. Just let us know what you are interested in doing!
Holiday Decorating Contest
At Christmastime, Grand Dell is one of the nicest neighborhoods in all of Oldham County to drive through looking at holiday decorations.. And we encourage participation by having a contest for residents of Grand Dell to vote for their favorite holiday decoration before the December 23 deadline. You can vote by writing down the address of your favorite house on paper or use our ballot form and drop it into the Grand Dell mailbox (located at the entrance "Y"). Other voting options include posting on Grand Dell's facebook page or emailing granddellboard@gmail.com The house receiving the most votes will get a "Winner" sign placed in their front yard for all to see by Christmas Eve. Join in the fun!
